A letter from New Zealand's wine valley: Where tradition meets technology
My trip to the wine regions and what it taught me...
Dear Fellow Explorer,
The sun is setting here in the Waipara Valley, casting long shadows across rows of carefully tended vines. Each evening, I've made it my ritual to open my laptop, pour a glass of local Pinot Noir, and contemplate how our world is changing.
There's something poetic about reflecting on artificial intelligence from one of the world's most natural settings. These vineyards, with their perfect balance of tradition and innovation, remind me of where we stand with AI – at the intersection of human wisdom and technological potential.
This valley tells a story of patience and precision. Some of these vines have stood for decades, carefully nurtured by generations of vintners who understood that true quality takes time. Similarly, understanding AI isn't about racing to catch every headline or chasing every new release. It's about taking time to appreciate the subtle shifts, the meaningful developments, and the deeper implications.
As I watch the last light fade over these hills, I'm struck by how rapidly our world is evolving. The convergence of traditional wisdom with technological advancement isn't just changing how we work – it's transforming how we think about the future itself.
If you're curious about where this journey is taking us, I've discovered something you might appreciate. Below, you'll find a link to what I consider one of the most thoughtful explorations of AI's evolving landscape:
Start learning AI in 2025
Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, we found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.
It's a free AI newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the latest AI news, and teaches you how to apply it in just 5 minutes a day.
Plus, complete the quiz after signing up and they’ll recommend the best AI tools, guides, and courses – tailored to your needs.
Like these vineyards that surround me, our understanding of AI grows richer with time. The question isn't whether AI will shape our future – it's how we choose to engage with that future.
With warm regards from New Zealand,
Jamie
P.S. Much like this evening in Waipara, some moments are worth savoring. I hope you'll take a moment to explore what I've shared above.
